Branching Out with Ayana Abdullah
Where ideas grow into change.
Connecting people, science, and stories to protect the planet we share.
Welcome to SHAAKH
The environment isn’t just a subject I study — it’s the lens through which I see the world. My work bridges conservation, education, and innovation, from studying snow leopard ecology to developing climate lessons and leading sustainability initiatives. This site brings together those experiences to explore what it means to build a future rooted in environmental awareness and collective action.
My work centers on the belief that environmental change begins with understanding — of
ecosystems, people, and the relationships between them. From snow leopard conservation in the mountains of Pakistan to teaching sustainability in classrooms and leading student action in New York City, I explore how science and education can work together to protect the planet. Each project I’ve taken on — with BWCDO, DIL, Colossal, and BEAC — reflects a different way of
turning awareness into action.

About Me
Across every project I’ve taken on — research, education, or leadership — my goal has
remained the same: to connect people to the environment in meaningful ways. I’m driven by
curiosity, collaboration, and the belief that sustainability is not just a subject to study, but a way
to live.
